The rarest threshold belongs to Inzamam-ul-Haq, who brought up 9000 ODI runs against Bangladesh in 2003, a mark few batsmen reach. At the other end of the scale, 9 September has seen four players register their first ODI hundred: Sachin Tendulkar against Australia in 1994, Yasir Hameed against Pakistan in 2003, Cameron White against England in 2009, and most recently David Warner, who went on to score his 20th ODI hundred against South Africa in 2023. The date has also witnessed a cluster of 500-run milestones, with Mohammad Rafique in 2003, White in 2009 and Sadeera Samarawickrama in 2023 all crossing that mark.

The date proved particularly productive for ODI batting milestones in 2023. Kusal Mendis brought up 3000 ODI runs against Bangladesh, while Travis Head reached 2000 runs and Marnus Labuschagne brought up 1000 runs, both against South Africa. The bowling milestones are more modest: Colin Miller reached 25 Test wickets against Sri Lanka in 1999, while Bruce Reid and Simon Davis both reached 25 ODI wickets against India in 1986. The date has also marked appearance milestones, with Michael Slater and Glenn McGrath both playing their 50th Test against Sri Lanka in 1999, and Tim Bresnan playing his 50th ODI against India in 2011.
