Privacy Policy
CricStats is a cricket statistics site. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to
log into, and no profile of you to build. This page sets out exactly what does get
recorded when you visit, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

The short version
We have no accounts, no newsletters, no login and no advertising network. We do not
sell or rent anything about you. What we do have is ordinary web server logs, two
cookies that hold your time zone so match times display correctly, and — if you vote
in the daily poll — your IP address stored against that vote so the same person
cannot vote twice. That is the whole of it.
1. Who we are
CricStats (cricstats.in) is an independent, fan-run cricket statistics
and analysis site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the ICC, the
BCCI, any national cricket board, any franchise league or any team. In this policy
"we", "us" and "the site" mean CricStats; "you" means anyone visiting it.

2. What we collect
Information you actively give us
There is no registration, no comment system and no contact form on this site, so in
normal browsing you give us nothing at all. The two exceptions:

The daily poll. If you answer the cricket question on the
homepage, we record which option you picked, when, and your IP address. The IP
address is used for one purpose only — to stop the same visitor voting on the same
question repeatedly and skewing the result. It is not used to identify you or to
link your voting to anything else you do on the site.

Email. If you write to us, we have your email address and
whatever you put in the message, for as long as we need it to deal with what you
wrote about.
Information collected automatically
Like every web server, ours records the technical details of each request. This
includes your IP address, the browser user-agent string, the page requested, the
referring page if there is one, and the date and time. These records exist so the
site can be kept working and defended: we use them to spot scrapers, bots and
abnormal request rates, and to block traffic that is hammering the site.
We do not build behavioural profiles from these logs, and we do not attempt to work
out who you are from them.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. What it does set is strictly
functional:
- GMTOffset
- Your browser's offset from GMT, so match start times are shown in your local time rather than ours. First-party cookie, set by JavaScript in your browser.
- Timezone
- Your IANA time zone name (for example "Asia/Kolkata"), used for the same purpose.
- rrDockOpen
- Browser local storage, not a cookie. Remembers whether you left the recent-results bar at the bottom of the page open or closed. Never leaves your device.
- ASP.NET session
- A standard session cookie the web framework may set to keep a page working across a request. It holds no personal data and expires when you close the browser.
You can block or delete all of these in your browser settings. The site will still
work; match times will simply fall back to a default time zone and the results bar
will forget your preference.
4. Third parties that see your request
Some parts of the page are loaded from other companies' servers. When your browser
fetches those files it necessarily reveals your IP address and user-agent to them,
under their privacy policies rather than ours. We do not pass them anything else.
- Google Fonts — the three typefaces the design uses.
- jsDelivr and Cloudflare cdnjs — JavaScript and icon libraries.
- ipify — used only on pages carrying the daily poll, to read the IP address the vote is recorded against.
- Our hosting provider — the servers the site runs on, which necessarily process every request.
5. Analytics and advertising
At the date at the top of this page, CricStats runs no analytics package and
no advertising network — no Google Analytics, no AdSense, no third-party
tag manager, no remarketing pixels, no social media trackers.
If that changes, this page will be updated with the new date before the change goes
live, and this section will name the service, say what it collects and link to its
own policy. We will not quietly add a tracker and leave this page saying otherwise.
6. How the information is used
- To serve the pages you asked for, at a sensible speed.
- To display dates and times in your own time zone.
- To keep poll results honest.
- To detect and block scraping, automated abuse and denial-of-service attempts.
- To understand, in aggregate, which sections of the site are worth developing.
- To reply to you if you have written to us.
We do not use it for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or resale.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade any information about visitors. It is disclosed only:
- to our hosting and infrastructure providers, to the extent they must process it to run the servers;
- where a law, court order or valid legal request obliges us to; or
- where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or to protect the site against attack.
8. How long we keep it
Server and security logs are kept only as long as they are useful for diagnosing
problems and defending the site, and are then discarded. Poll votes are kept in
aggregate; the IP address attached to a vote serves no purpose once the question has
rotated away. Email correspondence is kept while the matter is open and for a
reasonable period afterwards.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live — in particular under India's Digital Personal Data
Protection Act, the EU/UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act — you may have
the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to have it corrected or
erased, to object to or restrict how it is processed, and to complain to your data
protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email
cricstats.in@gmail.com. Please be aware of
a practical limit: because we hold almost nothing that identifies a person, we
usually cannot locate "your" records from an email address alone. If you can tell us
the IP address and rough date, we can look. We will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing for a "do not sell my
personal information" request to act on.
10. Children
The site is a general-audience cricket reference and is not directed at children
under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe
a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable technical measures to protect
the little we hold. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is
completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Links to other sites
CricStats links out to cricket boards, news outlets, official scorecards and our own
sister sites for other T20 leagues. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's
site, under their privacy policy. We are not responsible for their content or their
practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as the site changes. The revision date at the top of the
page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be described
here rather than made silently. Continuing to use the site after a change means you
accept the revised policy.
