DMCA & Copyright Policy

1. What this covers

CricStats is an independent cricket statistics site. Most of what you see here is factual match data and our own analysis and writing. Some material — team crests, player photographs — originates elsewhere and is used to identify the team or player it depicts. If you hold rights in any material published here and want it removed, the procedure below is the fastest route.

We follow the process set out in the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) as our working standard, and we apply it to rights holders everywhere, not only US ones.

2. Sending a takedown notice

Email cricstats.in@gmail.com with the subject line DMCA Takedown Notice. To be actionable, your notice must include all of the following:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, a representative list is enough.
2. Identification of the material on CricStats you want removed, with the full URL of each page and enough detail for us to find the exact item on it — "an image on your site" is not enough to act on.
3. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
6. Your physical or electronic signature.

A notice missing items 2, 4 or 5 is not a valid DMCA notice and we will write back asking for them rather than acting on it.

3. What happens after you send it

• We acknowledge your email, normally within 5–10 working days.
• Where the notice is valid on its face, we remove or disable access to the material identified. We may do this before completing our own assessment.
• We keep a record of the notice and of what was removed.
• Where the material was supplied by an identifiable contributor, we notify them and pass on your notice, including the contact details in it.

We are a small independent site, not a company with a legal department. We are not trying to be difficult — a clear notice with URLs usually gets a same-week result.

4. Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address, with the subject line DMCA Counter-Notice. It must include:

1. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
2. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
3. Your name, address and telephone number.
4. A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, and that you will accept service of process from the party who sent the original notice.
5. Your physical or electronic signature.

We will forward a valid counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not notify us that they have filed a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the material.

5. Repeat infringers

Where a contributor is the subject of repeated valid infringement notices, we will stop accepting material from them. As the site has no public accounts, this applies in practice to anyone who supplies content to us.

6. False claims

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing — or that it was removed by mistake — can be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please be sure you actually hold the rights before sending a notice.

7. A note on photographs

Player and team images used on this site are included to identify the individual or team a page is about. Where a rights holder tells us they would rather their image was not used, we remove it — we do not require a formal DMCA notice for that. A plain email naming the page is enough.
